Landscape Supervisor


Position description:

The Landscape Supervisor must be thoroughly familiar with and able to perform all aspects of residential planting, irrigation, and lighting installation to include: production, scheduling, customer service, training, etc. Carpentry and/or Masonry skills are highly valuable as well.  The Landscape Supervisor directly oversees Landscape Laborers & Technicians and the installation of projects on a daily basis while interfacing with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. The Landscape Supervisor must keep the Owner(s), and Head of Construction apprised of progress (or lack thereof) on all jobs while coordinating with the Crew. The Landscape Supervisor also occasionally assists with Estimating project labor hour.

Skill set and educational requirements:

The Landscape & Irrigation Supervisor must possess the following skill set and educational background:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in Residential Landscape installation.

  • Have a high school diploma or GED.

  • Able to supervise one to two installation crews simultaneously.

  • Able to effectively train field crew members.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable on company’s insurance policy.

  • Have a clean criminal record.

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English & proficient in both oral and written communications.

  • Able to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.

  • This is a physically demanding job. Must be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time;  able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks;  be able to lift 50-80 pounds of weight throughout the workday.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to read and install all plans.

  • Continually informs and updates company Owner(s), and head of construction of job progress.

  • Continually coordinates with company Crew as to job progress (or lack thereof).

  • Oversees the production of one to two installation crews simultaneously.

  • Ensures that jobs are kept on schedule and on budget.

  • Understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and Safe Operating Practices.

  • Unsafe conditions are reported to Head of Construction and Owner.

  • Ensures all accidents are properly documented and reported immediately.

  • Ensures (with Owners) that all workers’ compensation insurance claims are properly documented and reported immediately.

  • Interfaces with subcontractors to ensure coordinate completion of their phase of projects.

  • Interfaces with suppliers to accept delivery of job materials.

  • Ensures that all equipment is operated in a safe and proper manner and that is maintained properly and preventatively maintained daily.

  • Ensures that vendor delivery tickets and all paperwork are processed and turned in daily.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of the production part of the company’s training goals.

  • Assists in evaluating the performance of Crew members.

  • Is certified in CPR and First Aid, or is willing to become certified.

  • Continuing education requirement: minimum of 8 hours per year.

Pay: Commensurate with experience $20 to $24 per hour ($41,600 to $49,920 per year).  Employees are paid for 8 Annual Holidays.  Bonuses paid at the end of each year.
